I had a HP M1216NFH printer install at branch office. The branch user will need to remote connect to Terminal Server to access the stock program and print the order back to M1216NFH printer. But none of the branch user are able to print remotely.

The Terminal Server is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64bit version, and all the branch users are using 32bit Windows 7 and XP version. The printer redirection is created during remote session, and user is able to select the printer to print, but is nothing come out from the printer.

I had install x86 printer driver, but is still not working. Server is auto using remote desktop easy print driver when printer redirection in remote session.

I did try connect branch user PC to another Terminal Server running on WIndows Server 2003 R2 Standard 32bit version, and tested is no problem to print.

Can anyone guide me what is the step that i was miss out for Windows Server 64bit configuration in order to allow 32bit windows client to print?

Thank you.

I have a system I use as a home server running windows 2008 R2 standard. It runs a I5-2400 CPU with 8GB CL9D RAM. The motherboard is a P67A-UD3R-B3, with virtualization turned off.

The system has 7 internal drives and one external USB drives. There are 4 SATA III drives, and 3 SATA II drives. One of the SATA III drives is on a SATA II port as there were not enough SATA III ports. Two of the drives are on the Gigabyte GSATA ports, and are seen as IDE drives at boot. All ports are set to AHCI. The USB drive is a 1TB WD.

The problem is that the PC stops at the Motherboard ID for 15 seconds, then takes another 20 seconds to progress through the POST tests to the AHCI scan, which then takes 12 seconds (Total so far 47 seconds).

The screen then goes black and stays that way for 3 minutes before the Windows startup up logo shows. Then that is displayed for 30 seconds, the screen the goes black for another 30 seconds, then the mouse appears, and finally the familiar grey Win 2008 background will appear another 20 seconds later.

After another 30 seconds I will get the logon prompt.

I have my HDD delay set to 0 in the BIOS. All SATA III drives are < 12 months old. The SATA II drives vary from 18 months to 3 years old. I have run scans on the drives, none of them have any problems.

Windows is installed on drive 0, port 0, partition 0.

Why is it taking so long to boot up?

I'm using Microsoft Answer on Firefox in Windows 7. Then I don't know if I had click something, but if I did, it only takes one click. Then this tab begin show up telling me my computer is founded with viruses. I open MSE (which already installed on my computer). MSE reports my computer is protected. With both windows on, it looks like this picture:

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/209/capture.JPG

So which one is the right one. Usually people got viruses by clicking on the Internet, so I haven't done anything to that new tab. The new tab only allows me to click Clean Computer. I also did a Quick Scan in MSE, and it found nothing. So is there really viruses in my computer, and what is the best way to solve this problems. Thank you.

Hello,

I am going through an MCTS Study Guide for Microsoft Windows 7 Configuration, in preparation for exam 70:680, though I am not with a college.

Please could you let me know what is the exact procedure one would use to achieve the scenario set out in the following question:

Question:

You have a Windows 7 machine that multiple users access. All users have the rights to use
USB removable devices but you need to deny one user from using USB removable devices.
How do you accomplish this?

Answer:

Create a removable storage access policy through an LGPO.

Explanation:

LGPOs are policies that you can set on a local Windows 7 machine to limit hardware and user usage. You also have the ability to control individual users within the Local Group Policy.

(Review Questions: Q.4. P.375, P.380.)

Would the following be the correct procedure? If it is wrong please set out for me the correct procedure:

- - - - Procedure starts: - - - -

When Adding the LGPO from the "Add or Remove Snap-ins" dialog box, at the "Select Group Policy Object" dialog box, click its "Browse..." button, to add a specific user at the "Browse for a Group Policy Object": "Users" tab.

This LGPO would then be configured with:

Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable storage access:

Enable:

"Removable Disks: Deny execute access",

"Removable Disks: Deny read access",

"Removable Disks: Deny write access".

- - - - End of procedure - - - -

I would appreciate confirmation of the procedure that would be applicable to the Review Question set out above.

Regards,
