How to upload images to this forum effectively.
This forum uses VBulletin and hence, allows its users to upload and attach images in their posts. But I have observed that members in this forum as well as in other forums, do not know how to upload and add images to their post effectively.
Here is a quick tutorial:
Step 1:
Click on Insert Image icon in your WYSIWYG enabled advanced post editor.
Step 2:
Click on Select Files and select the image(s) you want to upload from your computer.
Step 3:
Click on upload files to complete the upload. Allowed file types are jpg, gif & png.
Most people stop here because they see their images are now visible in the post. But it is not enough, because:
- Your images are shown as thumbnails not in original size
- They are clickable links which confuses readers.
- They have improper alt and tooltip text and hence dont give readers and search engines proper idea of what they are about.
So continue to next steps
Step 4:
click on the pencil icon on the image, select original size option, enter a title and a description to the image there and submit.
You will see that your image is now hotlinked and is not clickable and also gives good descriptive tool tip which is helpful for both search engines and human visitors.

Great tip.
I thought about making a forum for this kind of thread, but then I thought it wouldn't be necessary. So seeing this tip I think it will be necessary. I have moved it to the new forum.
I think we will need to be using a lot of images through out the posts, so I think it's important for all admins to be able to - to enhance interest in their posts or articles.
Great tip, Also knowing how to Promote threads/posts into Articles.

hello,
i am arden
But bmp files are pretty large in file size and not often used anymore why not try using a freeware program like Faststone image viwer which will allow you to convert them to png, jpg etc. You won't loose quality and you will end up with a smaller file size. It also supports batch conversions so you can convert multiple files at once if needed. Once converted you can then upload them
Thanks.
