I just reinstalled Windows XP with the default SP2 provided. Windows update fails with error code 0X80240036. I completed the troubleshooter steps including stop/start of services and registering DLLs and reboot, but it still fails. The FIX IT utility will not run as it requires SP3 which I'm trying to download. I just reinstalled individual licensed copies to two machines and both are having the same problem.
